Game Development

I am an aspiring game designer and game enthusiast alike. From top-down, twin stick shooters to rhythm games, I enjoy a different myriad of genres. In my spare time, I like to write stories and map out 2D environments alongside development as a hobby.

- My Work -

- Quest & Level Design -
Samsara

As part of a month long skills workshop, I was given the opportunity to design a quest and the level it takes part in for a game known as Samsara, by
I N F I N I T Y 2 7.
The quest I created revolved around getting invested in the moral conflict of two characters, revolving around the killing of an injured man - and whether this was a mercy killing or a great injustice. To allow this quest to take place, I created an exterior map and interior dungeon using Unreal Engine 5 and it's landscaping and cubemap tools, alongside existing models as part of the Samsara project. For the designs themselves, I had the opportunity to work with Miro and Confluence to create level maps and outline the flow of the quest. This was a remote experience, giving me experience with tools such as Parsec, Hansoft, and Perforce as well.

- Final Year Project -
The Endless Abyss

For this project, I was given the creative freedom to make whatever I wished within a period spanning from early January to the middle of May.Revisiting an old topic, I decided to create a top down, twin stick shooter in Unreal Engine 4, as a show of improvement on one of my older projects.Using blueprints and some freely available asset packs, I put together a functional game with some random elements, and gave it a little bit of polish.

- Solo Prototype -
Bright Light

The aim here was to make a top down, twin-stick shooter with a minimalist neon theme, and the software used for this was Unreal Engine 4.From creating a player controller, making simple AI and UI elements, and simple puzzle mechanics, this project brought me a lot of valuable experience. It was originally a project from my first year at university, but I enjoyed working it and continued to update it with optimisation and a new UI past submission.

- Team Project -
Furrever After

A 3D party platformer game created as a team of 10 in the Unity game engine, and providing valuable experience in working with others. My role in this project was as a Level Designer.Using Probuilder, I pieced together the level block-out around a design me and two others created in Minecraft as it allowed to communicate our ideas together better, gave the world a splash of colour, and added placeholders for power-up spawn locations.I also made a simple victory area, with trees provided by one of our artists to line the background.
